BARRAS, PAULINE
Mrs. Auguste Barras, nee Pauline Bertrand, died at the plantation home, this parish, at 9:00 o'clock in the morning Saturday, at the age of 58 years, and was buried here Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. [The Weekly Messenger, November 09, 1918]

BERARD, ARTLHEMISE
Widow of Balthezar Berard, nee Artlhemise Leblanc died on her plantation, St Martin parish, Sunday the fifth inst. at two o'clock in the morning, at the age of 71 years. Mrs. Berard was a noble Christian old lady, esteemed and respected by all those who knew her. She was buried from the Catholic church Monday evening at five o'clock, and large was the concourse of relatives and friends who followed her mortal remains to their last resting place. BEYT, FRANK
Mr Frank Beyt died at his home here at four o'clock Tuesday at the age of 58 years, and was buried at four o'clock Wednesday evening, from the Catholic Church. [The Weekly Messenger. (St. Martinville La.), 07 Dec. 1918]

BIENVENU, BLANCHE
Mrs. W. A. Bienvenu, nee Blanche Marrionneaux, died last Saturday morning, the 4th inst., at 7:30 o'clock, after a lingering illness of over 2 months. Mrs. Bienvenu was aged 46 years and 8 months; she leaves a husband and five children to mourn her untimely demise. Her funeral took place at nine o'clock Sunday morning from the Catholic church, attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. [The Weekly Messenger, April 11, 1896]

BIENVENU, ELISE
Mrs. Widow Edgar Bienvenu, nee Elise Potier, died on her plantation in this parish, Saturday December 31st 1898, at 1 o'clock in the morning, after a brief illness. Mrs. Bienvenu was aged 65 years. BIENVENU, FELIX THELISMAR
Felix Thelismar Bienvenu died Saturday, the 8th inst., at 2:30 o'clock in the evening, at the age of 37 years. Mr. Bienvenu was sick only fifteen days. He was buried at 11 o'clock Sunday morning. He leaves a widow, a mother, a sister and two brothers to mourn his death. [The Weekly Messenger. June 16, 1900]

BOUEVALT, WILLIAM
Mr. William Bouevalt died here Monday morning and was buried at 3 o'clock the same evening. Mr. Bouevalt, who was aged 64 years, arrived here from Lake Charles Saturday afternoon and said he was feeling unwell, but was up on the streets until late that evening. BREAUX, EDWARD
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Edward Breaux, 90, who passed away November 22, 2009 at St. Martin Hospital. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his nephew, Harold (Paula) Breaux; grandsons, Gerald Dugas, Warren Dugas and Eugene Mouton; great grandchildren, Dwayne Edmond, Delshawn Edmond, Latasha Celestine, Comarita Shelton, Sharon Cluse, Lanette Williams, Vanessa and Blake Breaux, Warren Hebert, Claudia, Shirley and Eugene Martinez and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Guidry Breaux; his father Oscar Breaux; mother, Euchariste Breaux; his brothers, Charles, Elmo, Francis and Chester Breaux; his sisters, Mary Simon and Adna Andres; step-son, Warren Dugas, Sr. and step-daughter, Shirely Dugas Breaux. The family would like to give special thanks to Maison de Williams Adult Day Care. Visitation will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at Syrie Funeral Home beginning at 7 a.m. until time of service. BROUSSARD, GASTON
Mr. Gaston Broussard died at his home in Breaux Bridge Friday of last week at the age of 52 years. His remains were brought here Saturday morning and laid at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Livingston until the time of the funeral at six o'clock in the evening. Mr. Broussard was formerly a citizen of St. Martinville. He was the father of Mrs. George Livingston, Mrs. Seymour Broussard and Mr. Adolphe Broussard of St. Martinville, and a brother to Mrs. J. A. BROUSSARD, LOUIS JR
Saturday last there was a double funeral here which was a sad one, that of brother and sister. Mrs. George Hebert, nee Mathilde Broussard, aged 26 years, died at Port Arthur, Texas, and her brother, Louis Broussard, Jr, also died in Port Arthur and their bodies were shipped at the same time and arrived here together and the same funeral service served for both. Louis was 17 years of age. They were the children of Widow Louis Broussard of this parish.

BROUSSARD, VIOLA
Death of Miss Viola Broussard
The sad news was flashed over the wires Tuesday morning that Miss Viola Broussard was dead.
Miss Broussard had gone to New Orleans last week and was operated upon at the Touro for a serious intestinal trouble, and death followed shortly after the operation.
Her body was brought here Wednesday on the evening train and her funeral took place immediately after from the Catholic church.
Miss Broussard was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Broussard and was aged 20 years and 10 months. (The Weekly Messenger, St. Martinsville, La., June 5, 1915 - vm)

DAUTREUIL, ARISTIDE
Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock, Mr. Aristide Dautreuil was found dead in his bed. He was 84 years of age and a Confederate Veteran. He was buried at 4 o'clock the same evening. [The Weekly Messenger., February 23, 1918, pg.1]

DE MAHY, CARMEN
Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock, Mrs. Marcel J. de Mahy, nee Carmen Fleming, died in New Orleans at the age of 31 years. Her remains were brought here and her funeral took place at five o'clock Sunday evening. This death is a sad one, her husband died on October 8th and she died on October 25th., her brother, Lieut. L. G. Fleming died on October 4th., and her nephew Alan L Labbe died September 30th., four deaths in the family in less than one months. Mis. DeMahy leaves a little boy of about two years and soon was to be the mother of another baby. [The Weekly Messenger, November 02, 1918]

DUCHAMP, ELISE
Madam Elise Duchamp, a Sister of the Sacred Heart convent, at St. James parish, died on Wednesday the 7th inst. She was the daughter of our esteemable President of the Police Jury, Mr. E. A. Duchamp. [The Weekly Messenger, November 17, 1894]

DURAND, LOUIS JAMES
Died, Monday at 6:45 a.m. Louis James aged four months and fifteen days, child of Rene Durand and Amelia Bienvenu. (The Weekly Messenger, St. Martinsville, La., June 5, 1915 - vm)

EASTIN, SIDNEY
Mr. Sidney Kastin died at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at the home of his mother, Mrs. W. B. Eastin, at the age of 41 years. He was buried at four o'clock Thursday evening. [The Weekly Messenger. (St. Martinville La.), 07 Dec. 1918]

FERRAN, MRS. J. B.
Died, Tuesday morning at 1:30 o'clock, Mrs. J. B. Ferran, nee Mathilde Delahoussaye died at her home in St. Martinsville, at the age of 65 years and ten months.
Her funeral took place from the Catholic Church, at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday evening and her remains were followed to the grave by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Ferran was a woman who lived entirely at home, giving all her attention to her husband, children, sister and home duties, and would only go out of her home to visit the church. She was good, kind, and sweet in disposition, and never would say a word that would offend or hurt anyone, she lived and died a true Christian, and her dear ones have the satisfaction of knowing that her earthly sufferings are ended, and that she is now beginning to receive the reward of one who has lived an exemplary life. FOURNET, GEORGE JR.
Mr. George Fournet, Jr., died at 6:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the age of 17 years and was buried at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. Mr. Fournet was accidentally killed in the cog wheel of a syrup mill near Loreauville, where he was working. [The Weekly Messenger. (St. Martinville La.), 07 Dec. 1918]

GREIG, MARIE THERESE
Died, Thursday at 8 p.m. Marie Therese Greig, at the age of 12 years. (The Weekly Messenger, St. Martinsville, La., June 5, 1915 - vm)

HART, DR. FREDERICK W.
Dr. Frederick W. Hart, died at his residence in St. Martinville, at 9 o'clock Saturday morning last, the 10th inst, at the age of 80 years. The funeral service was held at the house by a Methodist minister who came from New Iberia, at 4 o'clock Sunday evening. [The Weekly Messenger, November 17, 1894]

HEBERT, MATHILDE
Saturday last there was a double funeral here which was a sad one, that of brother and sister. GUIRARD, AUGUSTE
Mr. Auguste Guirard died here Friday evening, October 25th., at 3:45 o'clock at the age of 68 years. He was buried at five o'clock Saturday evening. Mr. Guirard had been sick for some time and his death was not unexpected. He leaves a widow and several grown children to mourn his death. [The Weekly Messenger. June 16, 1900]

LAMPEREZ, JACQUES
Mr. Jacques Lamperez, one of the oldest and most respectable citizens of New Iberia (La) was drowned in the bayou, near St. Martinsville, a few days ago. His body was recovered the next day. (The Daily Delta, New Orleans, La., Dec 15, 1858 - vm)

LASTRAPES, CHARLES
Mr. Charles Lastrapes, an old resident of the Fifth Ward of St. Martin parish died last Saturday. The funeral service was held at the Catholic church at La Place, and the remains buried in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery at St. Martinville. -- St. Martinville Messenger, Nov. 17. LEWIS, JAMES
James Lewis, a colored man of this town, who spent his life steamboating, and who was well known and respected by all the people on the Teche from St. Martinville to Morgan City, died suddenly at Morgan City, and his remains were brought here for interment. LIVINGSTON, W. H.
Mr. W. H. Livingston died at his home, in this town, at 1:45 o'clock Saturday evening, the 2nd inst, after an illness of only six days. Mr. Livingston, at the time of his death was 42 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was buried from the Episcopal church at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, Rev. C. C Kramer, of New Iberia, officiating. Considerable false rumors had been circulated that Mr. Livingston hail died of yellow fever, and some people in this town as well as in the neighboring towns seemed to give credance to the rumor and several inquiries have been made regarding the cause of the death of Mr. Livingston. Mayor Labbe called on Health officer Sillan who attended to Mr. Livingston in his last moments, who filed his report with the Mayor, stating that Mr. Livingston had died of liver trouble, which was a chronic disease. This has quieted the rumor and the fear entertained by some of our people has disappeared.
Died on the 2nd of October. Mr. W. H. Livingston of St. Martinville: A man universally respected by white and black, a Simple, kindly, honest gentleman, one of nature's noblemen, a friend whom nothing daunted, a devoted husband and a loving father. His friends will miss his open hearted sympathies his beloved wife and children will miss the loving protector and his colored dependents will miss "boss" like whom they thought there was no other. Why he was taken, we cannot tell for he fed the hungry and clothed the naked, his sphere of usefulness was great, but, the Father wanted him and He knoweth best. He may sleep, but not forever. In the lone and silent grave; Blessed be the Lord that taketh Blessed be the Lord that gave. MARTIN, LEONARD
News was received here Monday morning, that Leonard Martin, a son of Dr. G. W. Martin of Arnaudville, and brother of Sheriff Wade O. Martin, had died at Arnaudville, Monday morning, at the age of 19 years. Leonard attended our High School here for several years and was considered as one of our boys. MOUTON, MRS. THOMAS nee ANAISE BABIN
Died, at Breax Bridge, La, Feb. 27th, Mrs. Thomas Mouton, born Anaise Babin at the age of 42 years. The funeral took place on the 28th and over 300 persons attended. POLLINGUE, ALDEN
Friday morning, the 8th inst., Alden Pollingue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pollingue, died, after a brief illness. The little boy was aged 9 months. [The Weekly Messenger. June 16, 1900(?)]

POWER, JOSEPH STERLING
Tuesday June 12th, Joseph Sterling Power, son of Mr. F. Z. Power and Louise Durand, died at 8:30 o'clock in the evening at the age of 3 years 8 mouths and 12 days. He was buried at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. [The Weekly Messenger. June 16, 1900]

RICHARD, MRS. AUGUSTIN
Died, at New Iberia, La, Wednesday March 17th, at 4:30 a.m. Mrs. Augustin Richard, at the advanced age of 80 years. (The Weekly Messenger, St. Martinsville, La, Mar 20, 1886 - vm)

ROCHON, DORSELIE
Dorselie Rochon, a colored man well known in this place, died at Breaux Bridge last-Saturday. He was buried here Sunday evening. [The Weekly Messenger, November 17, 1894]

ROCHON, JUDITH
Judith, the daughter of Honore Rochon, a respectable colored man, was buried here Thursday morning. She was aged 22 years, and died in New Iberia, where her parents reside. [The Weekly messenger., October 16, 1897]

SAVOY, CHARLES
