You may have heard someone men-
tion having a sore foot or ankle treated
by electromagnetic therapy, possibly
even raving about the results This is a
ty pe of treatment that has been fol-
lowed extensively for about the past 2 5
years, mainly in I-uropc Early research
seemed to indicate that electromagnetic
waves directed at hard-to-heal hone
fractures or areas of stubborn inflam-
mation could help the repair process
Toapply the theory, a negative-charged
plate is positioned on one side of an
affected area, and a positive-charged
place aligned on the other side When
electromagnetic waves are then trans-
mitted. healthy cells apparently cross
the force field to bring about healing
Some research has been done using this
technique on patients with severe ar-
thntis, with mixed results I he final
work on electromagnetic therapy is
probably not yet in. as more study is
completed
