Duties * Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment to ensure efficient operations. * Utilize computer applications to monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ARMD systems and subcomponents. * Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the thermal treatment chamber system. * Interpret and follow drawings, schematics, and technical manuals of electrical, electronic controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to troubleshoot, inspect and repair them to meet production standards. * Utilize a wide variety of inspection techniques to examine assemblies, integrated systems/components. * Perform inspection of tactical rocket motors looking for corrosion, damage, propellant abnormalities, nomenclature and ensures motors are safe to handle. * Operate forklift (up to 28,000 lb. Capacity) for transporting the rocket motors, missiles, and ammunition. Uses overhead crane, slings, hoisting devices, dollies, transport vehicles, and specially designed conveyances. * Make preliminary functional tests with a variety of standard and special purpose test equipment, holding fixtures, and precision measurement devices to inspect, identify, and validate initial operating conditions are within specific tolerances. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * May be required to perform TDY in CONUS and/or OCONUS up to 10% as directed by management to accomplish the described work. * This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. * Subject to random drug testing. * Must meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of employment. * Operators are required by Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to attend and successfully pass Smoke School Opacity Training semi-annually to be certified to read Visible Emissions. * Must undergo physical examination and receive favorable results prior to appointment and annually thereafter. * Must receive confined entry training. * This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. * Must operate a forklift up to 28k lbs within 60 days of appointment. * Must obtain and maintain certification as a qualified electrical worker. * Must obtain, maintain, and meet LEMC formal training plan/requirements, to include military munitions rule training, for operation, inspection and maintenance of equipment and associated missiles. * Requires overhead crane certification. Design, test, install, and modify specialized tools, fixtures, and equipment for a variety of ammunition and missile related operations - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. * Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)

Use of Measuring Instruments * Physical Effort: Moderate physical exertion is required. There is frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions. Work requires lifting and carrying items (tools, equipment parts, and components) from 10 to 40 pounds (and occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds). Work can require large amounts of walking between control areas, processing equipment, and equipment bays. Operators are required to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time to work around the equipment during operations, inspection, and troubleshooting activities. Workspace is limited in many instances requiring operators to be in awkward positions for long periods of time, often exceeding 10 minutes in length. Work frequently requires going up and down steps and on elevated structures (12 to 14 feet high). Work also includes working on outside high platforms (25 feet) and using appropriate man lifts to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance on equipment 30 to 40 feet off the ground. Incumbent must pass physical examination for working with and handling hazardous propellants and explosives and for entering confined spaces. * Working Conditions: Work is performed inside well lighted, climate-controlled buildings. Work is also performed outside with exposure to weather extremes. Outside work will frequently occur and will involve extreme hot and cold conditions, inclement weather, rain, dust, etc. Some operations require workers to wear protective clothing and respirator. Work may include donning full protective clothing (Tyvek and full face/half mask respirators) when performing some of the system inspection and maintenance. Operators are subject to profuse perspiration and extreme fatigue when working in protective clothing. Operators are subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises and thermal/acidic burns while performing equipment inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Operators are exposed to high heat situations from the energetics thermal treatment equipment. Protective clothing for high heat equipment is sometimes required. Operators are subject to broken bones and injuries from falls when climbing steps and working on elevated structures. Operators are required to wear fall protection harnesses in some situations. Operators are exposed to electrical shock and burns. Arc rated protective clothing is required for electrical work. High pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems can become injection hazards.
