We love sharing crafts for toddlers and Halloween is such a fun time for kids. I know that my children always really look forward to dressing up and going round our neighbourhood trick or treating and seeing the houses and other children all dressed up for the evening.

We’ve always done some crafts together in the lead up to the day as my kids get so excited about it and I’m sure they’re not the only ones!

All you need to do for some Halloween fun is grab the paints, glue, paper plates and whatever else you have to hand and I’m sure you’ll find some easy craft ideas in here your kids will love.

Halloween Crafts for Toddlers

I’ve searched through the internet for some of the best Halloween arts and crafts for toddlers and all of the ideas that I’m sharing today are ones that should be suitable for one, two and three year olds.

These crafts should all be great for preschoolers too, in fact there’s lots my kids still love even though they’re that little bit older now.

I know that not everyone is super keen on getting out paints and glue with younger kids but working on craft projects like these together during Halloween (or any other time!) is great for encouraging family bonding and quality time as parents and children work together on projects. It also has loads of other benefits like fine motor skills or even just making decisions about what color to use.

As you’ll know this period in your child’s life is one of great development and all children develop at different rates so there might be some ideas that might not be suitable for your child – can can always save this post to return to next year.

As with all toddler crafts your child will also need adult supervision the whole time especially where scissors or small items are being used. You’ll want to have fun but I know you’ll also want to keep your kids safe too.

Halloween Books To Read Together

I love sharing stories for kids because I love reading with my kids! I honestly believe that reading with your children helps to encourage a love a books in them and on a dark or rainy October day the idea of snuggling up together indoors to read a book is always quite appealing to me.

We’ve shared lots of not too scary Halloween books for kids recently and some great looking pumpkin books for kids too but the ones I’m sharing here look like they would be great for toddlers.

Make some fun handprint spiders like these ones from Daisies and Pie. Having made a lot of Halloween crafts with my own toddlers I would highly recommend keeping a damp cloth or some wipes close by for this craft as I know from experience that my kids have definitely touched things on the way to wash painted hands in the sink before! We still really enjoyed activities like this though.

We used toilet paper rolls to make this spooky forest Halloween craft and it was a good excuse to get the toys out and let them have a Halloween adventure!

Masking tape is an absolute classic for making mummy crafts and I love that it’s such an easy and cheap material to get hold of plus it’s super easy to tear as well, making it suitable for toddlers and preschoolers to use. Here we’ve used it to make a paper bowl mummy craft.

I’m a really big fan of making paper bag puppets because they can be really cheap to create and you can also use them afterwards, perfect for a bit of imaginative play. Here we’ve made a paper bag witch craft and I really like her green hair!

Create a simple Frankenstein paper bowl craft using green tissue paper to color in Frankenstein’s face. No tissue paper? No problem, just use paint or markers instead.
